Tourist Union Bitola 1987/88
The artificial accumulation “Bratin Dol” is located in the vicinity of the motorcycle track and is one of the favorite locations of cyclists and mountaineers who recreate in this part of the Municipality of Bitola.
Fishermen are also a common sight, and during our visit, we had the pleasure of meeting the friendly villagers who were grazing their cattle near the lake.
The accumulatio is located about 7 km from Bitola city, near the village of Bratin Dol. The immediate vicinity of the reservoir can be reached by the asphalt road, after which due to the poor condition of the dirt road, you have to continue on foot about 300 meters.
In the past, when the dirt road was in better condition and when the motorcycle track was often used, this place was one of the favorite picnic locations of the people of Bitola city.
Monument to the fallen fighters from the Ilinden period and the National Liberation War in Capari village
During the Ilinden Uprising, the inhabitants of the village of Capari became actively involved in the armed struggle against the Turkish rulers. Together with the villages of Gjavato and Smilevo, the core of the uprising in Bitola region was in this area.
The village of Capari lost 96 freedom fighters in the uprising, whose names are written on the monument that today is located in the center of the village. The names of 16 fighters who gave their lives during the National Liberation War are also written on the monument.
Capari is a mountain village 15 km away from Bitola, on the slopes of Baba Mountain at an altitude of 1,010 meters. “Caparski” or “Vistinski Vir” (transl. The Real Pool) is located in the upper part of the village.
The initiative for arranging the pool started in 2015 when a wall was added to the old natural pool, which significantly increased the bathing area, and also the surrounding area was arranged with benches and bridges for easier access to the other side of the river.
The residents from Capari village say this is a pool only for “real men” and that only a few are able to withstand the cold water of the Caparska River even in summer. It is interesting to note that the Holy Cross is thrown at this place in the winter during the Christian holiday of Epiphany.
The mountain hut Shiroka is located at an altitude of 1950 meters below the peak Pelister. Also known as “the hunting lodge”, the object was used only during the summer months by blueberry pickers, who used it as a place to sleep and store the collected blueberries.
Since 2016, the process of renovation of the object has been started by PSK “Dimitar Ilievski Murato” and the Ski Club Pelister FreeRide, in order to provide decent conditions within the facility.
The mountain hut has a single room with beds, a dining room, and kitchen. The heating is with wood, and electricity is provided by an aggregate.
The mountain lodge is one of the favorite places for recreational hikers or as a stopover for mountaineers, cyclists, and off-road vehicles heading to Antenna and Big Lake.
During the winter months, a real attraction is the Freeride ski tours organized by SF FreeRide (more information ..).
How to get to the Shiroka Mountain Lodge
The easiest way to reach the Shiroka Mountain Lodge is to use the dirt road, which starts near the Info Center. The road is suitable for 4×4 off-road vehicles and is ideal for hiking and mountain biking. After passing about 9 km, you will reach the Shiroka Mountain Lodge.
The mountain lodge operates only with prior notice.
