Ilinden Days – Festival of Folk Songs and Dances is a traditional cultural event held every year in Bitola, in late July and early August.
The aim of the festival is to preserve, nurture, and promote authentic folklore through research, evaluation, and stage presentation of original folk songs, dances, customs, and traditional expressions. In this way, the festival contributes to passing on the rich intangible cultural heritage to future generations as a lasting and invaluable cultural treasure.
Ilinden Days is one of the most important and longest-running festivals in Bitola and the wider region, continuously organized since 1972. To date, more than 1,000 folklore groups with over 50,000 performers from all over the world have participated, making it a true international center of folklore art.
