The Sakouleva River and the Old Town Centre

The Sakouleva River (Greek: Σακουλέβας; known in Macedonia as the Jeleska River) rises in the Baba Mountain range and flows through Florina. It then turns north and passes through the village of Sakulevo, which takes its name from the river, before crossing into Macedonia and flowing into the Crna River near the village of Brod, in the Municipality of Novaci, where it is known as the Jeleska River.
The beautifully landscaped riverside promenade is arguably Florina’s most recognizable feature, with its old bridges and traditional architecture making it an ideal place for photography.

Main Pedestrian Street

The main pedestrian area, with its cafés, shops, and places to relax, is somewhat reminiscent of Širok Sokak in Bitola. It is a great place to take a short break, enjoy a morning coffee, or do some shopping in the town centre.

During its restoration in the early 1950s, significant architectural changes were made, and the Slavic inscriptions beneath the icons were removed.
